At Chaine, we take your privacy seriously. Please read this Privacy Policy to learn how we treat your personal data. By using or accessing our Services in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined below, and you hereby consent that we will collect, use and share your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy applies to Chaine’s online workplace productivity tools and platform, including the associated Chaine mobile and desktop applications (collectively, the “Services”), trychain.com and other Chaine websites (collectively, the “Websites”) and other interactions (e.g., customer service inquiries, user conferences, etc.) you may have with Chaine. If you do not agree with the terms, do not access or use the Services, Websites or any other aspect of Chaine’s business.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third party applications or software that integrate with the Services through the Chaine platform (“Third Party Services”), or any other third party products, services or businesses. In addition, a separate agreement governs delivery, access and use of the Services (the “Customer Agreement”), including the processing of any messages, files or other content submitted through Services accounts (collectively, “Customer Data”). The organization (e.g., your employer or another entity or person) that entered into the Customer Agreement (“Customer”) controls its instance of the Services (its “Workspace”) and any associated Customer Data. If you have any questions about specific Workspace settings and privacy practices, please contact the Customer whose Workspace you use. If you have an account, you can check "https://app.trychain.com/{workspace-name}/account/workspace", where "{workspace-name}" is the workspace name, for contact information of your Workspace owner(s) and administrator(s). If you have received an invitation to join a Workspace but have not yet created an account, you should request assistance from the Customer that sent the invitation.
Chaine may collect and receive Customer Data and other information and data (“Other Information”) in a variety of ways:
Generally, no one is under a statutory or contractual obligation to provide any Customer Data or Other Information (collectively, “Information”). However, certain Information is collected automatically and, if some Information, such as Workspace setup details, is not provided, we may be unable to provide the Services.
Customer Data will be used by Chaine in accordance with Customer’s instructions, including any applicable terms in the Customer Agreement and Customer’s use of Services functionality, and as required by applicable law. Chaine is a processor of Customer Data and Customer is the controller. Customer may, for example, use the Services to grant and remove access to a Workspace, assign roles and configure settings, access, modify, export, share and remove Customer Data and otherwise apply its policies to the Services.
Chaine uses Other Information in furtherance of our legitimate interests in operating our Services, Websites and business. More specifically, Chaine uses Other Information:
If Information is aggregated or de-identified so that it is no longer reasonably associated with an identified or identifiable natural person, Chaine may use it for any business purpose. To the extent Information is associated with an identified or identifiable natural person and is protected as personal data under applicable data protection law, it is referred to in this Privacy Policy as "Personal Data".
Chaine will retain Customer Data in accordance with a Customer’s instructions, including any applicable terms in the Customer Agreement and Customer’s use of Services functionality, and as required by applicable law. Depending on the Services plan, Customer may be able to customize its retention settings and apply those customized settings at the Workspace level, channel level or other level. Customer may also apply different settings to messages, files or other types of Customer Data. The deletion of Customer Data and other use of the Services by Customer may result in the deletion and/or de-identification of certain associated Other Information. Chaine may retain Other Information pertaining to you for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. This may include keeping your Other Information after you have deactivated your account for the period of time needed for Chaine to pursue legitimate business interests, conduct audits, comply with (and demonstrate compliance with) legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
This section describes how Chaine may share and disclose Information. Customers determine their own policies and practices for the sharing and disclosure of Information, and Chaine does not control how they or any other third parties choose to share or disclose Information.
The Chain — TMS Companion browser extension reads the load or shipment reference shown on the page of a supported transportation management system (TMS) you are viewing — for example MercuryGate, Tai, Revenova, Sunnybrook, Turvo, or 3PLSystems. It uses that reference solely to open the matching load in the Chain side panel.
The extension runs only on the specific TMS sites listed in its permissions. It does not read content on other websites, does not collect your browsing history, and does not sell or transfer this information to third parties. The detected reference is used only to display the corresponding load in Chain and is stored locally in your browser so the panel shows the correct load for the active tab.
Questions: support@trychain.com.
The Chain Companion Outlook add-in reads the subject and body of the email message you currently have open in Outlook to detect shipment or load references (such as load numbers, PO numbers, or carrier details). It uses that information solely to surface the matching shipment and related actions in the Chain task pane next to your email.
The add-in only accesses the message you explicitly open it on. It does not read your mailbox in the background, does not collect your browsing history, and does not sell or transfer this information to third parties. To show shipment context, the add-in signs you in to your existing Chain account (app.trychain.com) inside the task pane; email content is used only to look up the corresponding shipment in Chain.

Front Integration DisclosureChain’s Front integration uses limited Front conversation context to provide shipment lookup and sidebar functionality inside Front. When a user opens a Front conversation or draft, Chain may access the subject line and limited context for that active item in order to detect a shipment, load, booking, or reference number and display the corresponding Chain data in the embedded sidebar.
After the user authenticates with Chain, the integration may display shipment, booking, tracking, and related workspace data available under that user’s Chain permissions. This information is used solely to operate the integration, provide shipment context, maintain and improve the service, support users, protect security, and comply with legal obligations.
The Front integration is not intended to access a user’s general browsing history. In its current implementation, the integration is designed to use the active Front conversation or draft context needed to identify the relevant shipment or load.
By providing your phone number and opting in, you consent to receive text messages from Chaine related to your account, shipment updates, and operational notifications. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for assistance.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
For drivers and carriers onboarded to the Chain platform by freight brokers via TMS integration: your phone number is provided to Chain by the freight broker you work with, who is responsible for obtaining your consent to receive SMS notifications related to shipment assignments and coordination. The first message you receive will identify the broker by name and include opt-out instructions. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP.
Chaine takes security of data very seriously. Chaine works hard to protect Other Information you provide from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access or disclosure. These steps take into account the sensitivity of the Other Information we collect, process and store, and the current state of technology. Chaine has received internationally recognized security certifications. Given the nature of communications and information processing technology, Chaine cannot guarantee that Information during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our systems or otherwise in our care will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others. When you click a link to a third-party site, you will be leaving our site and we don’t control or endorse what is on third-party sites.

Chaine may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. Laws, regulations, and industry standards evolve, which may make those changes necessary, or we may make changes to our services or business. We will post the changes to this page and encourage you to review our Privacy Policy to stay informed. If we make changes that materially alter your privacy rights, Chaine will provide additional notice, such as via email or through the Services. If you disagree with the changes to this Privacy Policy, you should deactivate your Services account. Contact the Customer if you wish to request the removal of Personal Data under their control.
Chaine may transfer your Personal Data to countries other than the one in which you live. We deploy the following safeguards if Chaine transfers Personal Data from jurisdictions with differing data protection laws:
To communicate with our Data Protection Officer, please email support@trychain.com.
Data protection law in certain jurisdictions differentiates between the “controller” and “processor” of information. In general, Customer is the controller of Customer Data. In general, Chaine is the processor of Customer Data and the controller of Other Information. Different Chaine entities provide the Services in different parts of the world. Chaine Limited, an Irish company based in Dublin, Ireland, is the controller of Other Information and a processor of Customer Data relating to Authorized Users who use Workspaces established for Customers outside of the U.S. and Canada. Chaine, Inc., a US company based in San Francisco, California is the controller of Other Information and a processor of Customer Data relating to Authorized Users who use Workspaces established for Customers in the US and Canada.
Individuals located in certain countries, including the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, have certain statutory rights in relation to their personal data. Subject to any exemptions provided by law, you may have the right to request access to Information, as well as to seek to update, delete or correct this Information. You can usually do this using the settings and tools provided in your Services account. If you cannot use the settings and tools, contact the Customer who controls your workspace for additional access and assistance.
To the extent that Chaine’s processing of your Personal Data is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (or applicable laws covering the processing of Personal Data in the United Kingdom), Chaine relies on its legitimate interests, described above, to process your data. Chaine may also process Other Information that constitutes your Personal Data for direct marketing purposes, and you have a right to object to Chaine’s use of your Personal Data for this purpose at any time.
